Anti-Democratic Process: The Best Mayor Will Be Removed Through Vote of No Confidence, Yeritsyan Says
I do not want to participate in this anti-democratic process of voting no confidence in the mayor and have submitted my mandate. This was stated by Grigor Yeritsyan, a former member of the Yerevan Council from the 'My Step' faction, in an interview with News.am.
He believes that the best option to resolve the political crisis is early elections. This is the most correct and honest option, which the authorities today are not ready to undertake.
Grigor Yeritsyan called for a reconsideration of this approach and urged the residents of Yerevan to be asked whom they see as the mayor. 'Hayk Marutyan is an effective mayor, and the residents of Yerevan can reaffirm this through early elections. Hayk Marutyan will not resign, and I am confident that the vote of no confidence will take place. This will be the first case in the new independent history of Armenia where a mayor is removed through a vote of no confidence. In a country where we have had criminal mayors, the best mayor will be removed through this process,' Yeritsyan said.
When asked why Hayk Marutyan left the Civil Contract party, Grigor Yeritsyan stated that it would be best for Hayk Marutyan to discuss the reasons for this himself, which are well-founded and the public should know about.
