Today, on December 20, the first winter conscription for 2021-2022 took place in the Gegharkunik region, during which recruits from the Martuni consolidated community set off for the Armenian army. The event started at the regional structure of the Ministry of Defense's Military Service and Mobilization Department in Gegharkunik.

The governor's office reported that Gegharkunik Governor Karen Sargsyan attended the conscription ceremony and delivered words of encouragement to the recruits. “Dear recruits, congratulations on being honored with the high title of a soldier of the Armenian army. I am sure that you have been raised as patriots and will dutifully fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to you. At the same time, I believe that we will meet again in two years, when you will have completed your service and will be awarded for your service to the homeland. I wish you a peaceful service and a safe return,” stated Karen Sargsyan.

Following that, a blessing ceremony for the recruits was held at St. Mary’s Church in Martuni, conducted by the honorable Father Yeremia, the chaplain. After the ceremony, the recruits were given small gifts. The parents and relatives of the recruits were proudly and enthusiastically sending off their children to the army. “Today is a special day for us as we send our children to the Armenian army. May peace prevail in the borders of our country, and may they serve honorably and return to their homeland,” remarked the parents of the recruits.

The next winter conscription in the Gegharkunik region for 2021-2022 will take place on December 22.
