Colonel Who Investigated Numerous High-Profile Road Accidents Involved in Car Crash

Today, December 18, a car accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 1:00 PM, on the Nubarashen highway, vehicles driven by 52-year-old Gagik Harutyunyan from Yerevan, operating a Mercedes, and 31-year-old Gevorg Melikyan from Ararat Province, driving a Nissan Note, collided near the Nubarashen penitentiary of the Armenian Ministry of Justice. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.

As a result of the accident, one person was taken to the ‘Erebuni’ medical center with injuries.

A photojournalist reports that G. Harutyunyan, the driver of the Mercedes, formerly worked as a senior investigator in the Road Transport Crime Investigation Division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in Yerevan, where he investigated numerous serious and high-profile road traffic accidents, including tragic incidents. He was nicknamed ‘Sherlock Holmes’ within the investigative apparatus because whenever he arrived at the scene of an accident, he noticed and recorded every detail and trace, allowing forensic experts to work with ease.

He is currently serving as the head of the escort department of the Ministry of Justice's penitentiary service, holding the rank of colonel. Gevorg Melikyan also works within the penitentiary service.
