Aliyev Outraged by the European Union: $2.6 Billion for Armenia, $140 Million for Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has deemed it unjust that the European Union plans to provide Armenia with $2.6 billion in aid, while the assistance for Azerbaijan will amount to only $140 million, reports RIA Novosti.

During a working visit to Brussels, Aliyev gave an interview to the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.

"The difference is nearly twentyfold. Is this fair? No. Does this reflect the real needs of the two countries? No. Even if we set aside the terrible destruction caused by the Armenian side in the liberated territories and look at the populations of the two countries, we can see more than a fivefold difference—Azerbaijan's population is 10 million, while Armenia's is 2 million," Aliyev stated.

He expressed his desire for an approach that is based on common standards, saying: "We want funds to be provided to Azerbaijan under the same conditions and in the same volume as those for Armenia."
