Tiran Khachatryan, Yuri Khachaturov: More than Ten Generals Ready to be Personal Guarantors for Ashot Minasian
On December 13, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the head of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, retired Major General of the RA Armed Forces Grigor Khachaturov, and the People's Artist of Armenia Hrant Tokhatyan expressed their readiness to act as personal guarantors for Ashot Minasian, who has been detained for illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, provided that his bail conditions are changed to personal guarantee.
Ashot Minasian's attorney, Mihran Poghosyan, has submitted a request to the Prosecutor General of Armenia to change the bail conditions. The lawyer also noted that a group of generals have shown their willingness to be personal guarantors for Ashot Minasian, including:
- Tiran Khachatryan - National Hero, Lieutenant General
- Yuri Khachaturov - Colonel General
- Norat Ter-Grigoryants - Lieutenant General
- Valeri Grigoryan - Lieutenant General
- Hayk Kottanjian - Lieutenant General
- Enriko Apiramov - Lieutenant General
- Sergey Chalyan - Major General
- Hovik Ohanyan - Major General
- Henrikh Muradyan - Major General
- Hovhannes Varyan - Lieutenant General of the RA Police
- Sasha Afyan - Lieutenant General of the RA Police
- Hovhannes Hunanian - Lieutenant General of the RA Police
- Grigory Grigoryan - Lieutenant General of the RA Police
- Gagik Hambardzumyan - Major General of the RA Police
- Tatul Petrosyan - State Councilor of Justice, 3rd Class
- Grisha Mikayelyan - State Councilor of Justice, 3rd Class
- Rafik Hovhannisyan - State Councilor of Justice, 3rd Class
- Albert Margaryan - State Councilor of Justice, 3rd Class
“In the event of changing Ashot Minasian’s bail conditions, numerous public organizations, including units of the Artsakh war participants and cultural organizations, guarantee his proper behavior. As a result, it is evident that the ‘doubt’ regarding Ashot Minasian's proper behavior has already been overcome, and if he is not released, the political motives for isolating him are clear. I believe the prosecutors of the RA Prosecutor General's office will change Minasian's bail conditions, confirming two important facts: 1. There is no political directive to isolate Ashot Minasian, 2. A humanitarian principle exists, and a 62-year-old person with health issues, who has spared nothing for his homeland, should not be kept in detention for the charge of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition... Prove me wrong,” stated Mihran Poghosyan.
