Talin Elects New Mayor from RPA Candidate
A inaugural meeting of the newly elected council was held today in Talin. Notably, in the recent local government elections in Talin, the ruling party, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), received 46.6% of the votes. Despite collecting fewer votes, the parties 'Awakening', 'Hayk', and 'Our Community' formed a coalition and secured a majority in the council.
During the meeting, the RPA nominated Tavoos Apeyan as their candidate for mayor, while the coalition of 'Awakening', 'Hayk', and 'Our Community' proposed Davit Manukyan. The RPA holds 10 mandates in the council, while the coalition formed by the opposition parties has 11 mandates.
As a result of the voting, Tavoos Apeyan from the RPA was elected as the mayor of Talin. He received the support of 11 council members, while Davit Manukyan garnered 10 votes. It is worth noting that Karen Grigoryan, the former mayoral candidate from the coalition, who participated in the elections on behalf of the 'Hayk' party, voted in favor of the RPA candidate. Newly elected mayor Tavoos Apeyan expressed special gratitude to Karen Grigoryan.
