Sevan Consolidated Community Elects New Leader

The Sevan Municipality reports: "On December 17th, the first session of the newly elected council of the Sevan community was held at the municipal headquarters. The session was presided over by the eldest member present, Kamo Avagyan. Avagyan declared the session open, after which the attendees honored the memory of the fallen soldiers of the 44-day war of 2020 with a moment of silence.

According to decision 19-A of the Territorial Electoral Commission number 20 dated December 12, 2021, the mandates of the newly elected council members were distributed as follows: 'Sargis Muradyan' party alliance - 21 mandates; 'Armenian Revolutionary Federation' party - 3 mandates; 'Republic' party - 3 mandates. The presiding officer read the names of the elected council members according to their respective parties and alliances.

The first agenda item concerned the election of the head of the Sevan community in Gegharkunik Province. Guided by Article 142.2, Part 2 of the Electoral Code and Article 74, Part 1 of the Law on Local Self-Government, based on the decision 19-A of the Territorial Electoral Commission on December 12, 2021, and protocol N 19 dated December 16, 2021, the Sevan Council decided that Sargis Khazhaki Muradyan, leader of the list of council members from the 'Sargis Muradyan' alliance, was elected as the head of the Sevan community.

The newly elected head of Sevan, Sargis Muradyan, welcomed the council members and noted that as a result of the past five years’ work, the 'Sargis Muradyan' alliance received this vote of confidence, which also represents a great responsibility. 'We are expecting serious processes regarding the Sevan region in the near future, and the balanced development of the settlements in the region will become the core of our daily work. The role of the community council will further increase, and I am confident that thanks to our joint efforts, community-preserving and community-building decisions will be made, and as a result, Sevan will become one of the prominent and exemplary communities in the republic,' concluded Sargis Muradyan.

Regarding the next agenda item on the organizational issues of the oath-taking ceremony for the head of the Sevan community, secretary of the municipal staff Armenuhi Ghukasyan presented the details. The oath-taking ceremony for the head of the Sevan community, Sargis Muradyan, will take place on December 20th at 11:00 AM at the Sevan Municipality. After the oath-taking ceremony, the head of the community will assume his duties.

For the last agenda item, concerning the setting of the date for the next council session of the Sevan community, the council made a decision: the Sevan Council will convene for a session on December 24th at 11:00 AM in the Sevan Municipality.
