Parent Attacks Teacher in Yerevan School, Attempts to Choke Her

According to information received by ArmDaily.am, an extraordinary incident occurred several days ago at a school in Yerevan. At a school located in the Arabkir administrative district, a biology teacher reprimanded a student, who responded by saying “are,” to which the teacher admonished her further.

The following day, the student's parent came to the school and attacked the teacher, attempting to choke her. The incident sparked a strong reaction within the school, and the teacher, fearing for her safety, insisted that a law enforcement officer be present at the upcoming meeting with the principal and the parent.

The school principal, however, reacted angrily to the media's inquiry, hastily denying the report and arguing about who gave them the right to write such material.

The media outlet also contacted the police press office to find out if there had been any reports made regarding this case. “The Arabkir police department has not received any reports concerning this case,” stated Zardand Gabrielyan, head of the media relations, analysis, and information department at the police’s public relations and media office.

The outlet emphasizes that the information about the incident is reliable—confirmed by several sources—but since it has not been officially verified, the school is interested in remaining silent about it, while the police have not received any reports. Regardless, the incident did occur and should become the subject of a serious investigation by the relevant authorities, primarily concerning the safety and rights of teachers.
