Key Points of the Agreement on Security Guarantees with the US and NATO Published
The Russian Foreign Ministry has published the key points of the agreement on security guarantees with the United States and NATO.
The draft contains quite interesting provisions. According to the proposed project, further NATO expansion is excluded. The draft also stipulates a refusal of any military activity proposed by NATO in Ukraine, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia, as well as a commitment to refrain from deploying weapons and troops in areas perceived as a threat to national security.
The United States is obligated not to establish military bases in post-Soviet countries, not to utilize their military infrastructure, and not to develop military cooperation with them.
Interestingly, in this context, it remains to be seen whether the presence of Turkish military forces in Azerbaijan will be perceived by Russia as a national security threat or as a presence of friendly forces.
