Azerbaijan Has Resorted to New Blackmail to Promote Corridor Idea, Abrahamyan Says

Azerbaijan has effectively resorted to new blackmail to promote the idea of a corridor, attempting to revert the issue of the "Lachin Corridor" back to the discussion phase. This was stated on Facebook by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the "I Have Honor" parliamentary faction. He added, "Moreover, the issue of the ‘Lachin Corridor’ is defined and regulated by the trilateral statement of November 9, yet this seems to remind Azerbaijan little.

It should be noted that until now, Azerbaijan had returned the discussion of the Goris-Kapan road to the domain of negotiations in order to receive a corridor, threatening that in the absence of such a corridor, it would deploy checkpoints on the Goris-Kapan route. Ultimately, Azerbaijani checkpoints were established, and the road was closed for Armenia.

This happened despite the fact that a memorandum was signed regarding the operation of this road, ensuring security and unobstructed movement for Armenian citizens for a period of five years. Regardless of the numerous components of the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan that have not been made public and the ongoing behind-the-scenes processes, existing facts indicate that Azerbaijan has placed the issue of the ‘Lachin Corridor’, which connects Armenia to Artsakh, on the agenda and threatens to carry out dangerous changes in road-related regulations in case of non-fulfillment of its demands.

Azerbaijan is directly threatening to establish checkpoints in the section of the ‘Lachin Corridor,’ which is fraught with catastrophic consequences. Not to mention what else the Armenian authorities are occupied with other than taking a bent and subservient stance in negotiations with Azerbaijan while creating political careers for various dimwits, placing them in various positions, and simply throwing criminal cases at struggling, principled figures.
