On December 17, another incident of livestock theft occurred in the Kotayk region. Anushavan Aghekyan, a 26-year-old resident of the Kaputan village, entered his barn located near a monument on 6th street in the morning and discovered that a theft had taken place.

In a conversation with Shamshyan.com, A. Aghekyan stated, “In our Kaputan village, livestock theft seems to have become a tradition. For many years, similar incidents have occurred; we called the police, but we are constantly summoned for investigations, yet there is no progress. Only the police arrive, look at the barn, and promise that they will definitely find the thief or thieves, but those are just words. Today, they stole 2 heads of calves and 33 heads of small livestock—lambs and goats—from our barn. We have already contacted the Abovyan police; they came, but we have no hope that the case will be solved as previous unresolved thefts remain unsolved. We have even mentioned the names of the alleged suspects, but the police and investigators behave in a way that makes us think they are in cahoots. If we are mistaken, then let them prove otherwise. However, to prove the opposite, they must uncover the thefts, and we are confident that in that case, the tradition of livestock theft in our village will disappear. Right now, we don’t know whom to turn to. We are thinking of appealing to the government so that at least the Abovyan police and investigators start showing genuine concern and solve the cases.”

According to information from the photojournalist, materials are being prepared on the fact at the Kotayk police department, and the extent of the damage is being determined. The farmer has suffered damages amounting to millions.
