We Will Abstain from Tourist Trips: Taguhi Tovmasyan
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: Recently, the "Armenia" parliamentary faction announced that it is boycotting all types of international trips. The opposition faction explains this move by the political persecution of their deputy by the authorities.
“But what will it yield to upset international organizations?” we asked Taguhi Tovmasyan, the head of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs. “I don’t think it’s about being upset; it’s just that the issue of the exit for ‘Armenia’ faction deputies has become complicated, and many deputies who were involved in one delegation or another have not been able to leave the country. I believe their boycott is conditioned by that,” she noted.
Regarding the “I have Honor” faction, Tovmasyan stated that they will continue to work within delegations. “We will abstain from all types of trips that are not diplomatic but rather have tourist significance. Often, the opportunities of parliament are used for traveling to this or that country; we will boycott such tourist visits. However, if we have a clear message, tasks, or purpose within the delegation, we will be represented in all delegations,” the deputy added.
