VIDEO: Armed Forces Seize Government Buildings in Libya
In the Libyan capital of Tripoli, armed individuals have seized the presidential palace and surrounded the government and Ministry of Defense buildings. This was reported by Sky News Arabia.
According to the publication, the leader and members of the Libyan Presidential Council have been evacuated to a safe location after receiving information about impending attacks on their residences.
It is noted that the military involved in the seizure of state institutions belong to the As-Samud Brigade. They have already announced that there will be no presidential elections in Libya. Armed individuals are taking control of all significant infrastructure sites. Several armed factions have been brought to a state of combat readiness in major cities in the west of the country.
Amidst these events, several neighborhoods in Tripoli have experienced power outages.
It is worth recalling that in March, Libya established a new unified government, which was mandated to operate until December 24, coinciding with the country’s first presidential elections in its history.
