Record Levels of Agricultural Exports Achieved, Says Kerobyan

The government has allocated 8 billion drams for the financing of programs aimed at combating the coronavirus. The Minister of Economy, Vahan Kerobyan, stated that 2 billion 146 million drams will be allocated for the first measures against the coronavirus. According to the minister, this program has helped 1,052 companies secure concessional loans amounting to 87 billion drams, which are aimed at acquiring raw materials and equipment.

Kerobyan expressed hope that next year this program will help achieve their projected economic growth. "Financial resources will be allocated for the state support program for leasing agricultural machinery. This year, the program has provided farmers with 456 units of agricultural machinery, for which 2.7 billion drams have been allocated. It is interesting that in the agro-food sector, the financial leasing program has received 8.6 billion drams, and 160 beneficiaries have participated in this program," noted the Minister of Economy.

He added that 22,756 farm enterprises have received 45 billion drams in agricultural concessional loans, which they have used for agricultural activities. Funding has supported about 700 hectares of intensive orchards and new, higher-yielding vineyards.

“We have had a difficult year for agriculture, and water scarcity has hindered our ability to achieve good results. However, this year we have reached record levels of primary agricultural exports, exceeding 200,000 tons. The developments in our intensive orchards this year give us hope for good results in the near future,” said Vahan Kerobyan.
