Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports: Is it trying to bring its preferred directors to schools? The minister comments
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Vahram Dumanyan, assures that the ministry does not have a list of preferred school directors. Dumanyan made this statement following a government meeting during a briefing with reporters, addressing the amendments to the law on "General Education."
One of the proposed amendments pertains to school directors, suggesting the separation of administrative and educational management within schools. There are concerns that the Ministry may be attempting to install its preferred directors in schools.
"We do not have a personalized approach among school directors. Competitions are conducted in accordance with the established procedures. We do not like the current procedure for selecting school directors, which is why we want to implement a change; however, the existing law is also strictly maintained," said Dumanyan.
According to him, the new law proposes that the school director focus on education itself and not be burdened with administrative duties.
It should be noted that both school directors and education experts do not share a consensus regarding the expected changes. Furthermore, even school directors are unclear about what functions the 'second director' will perform.
