Gas Prices in Europe Exceed $1700 for the First Time in Two Months

In the European market, the price of gas has today exceeded $1700 per thousand cubic meters for the first time in two months. This is reported by РИА Новости, citing data from the London ICE exchange.

Since last week, gas prices in Europe have increased by one third, rising from $1200 to $1600.

It is believed that the surge in prices, confirmed on December 16, may be linked to statements made by Jochen Homann, head of Germany's Federal Network Agency (BNA). He indicated that a decision regarding the "Nord Stream 2" pipeline is unlikely to be made in the first half of 2022.
