Alen Simonian Sees Operators Sitting on Chairs in Corridor, Takes Photo and Leaves; Chairs Collected

Journalists accredited to the National Assembly are reporting on their Facebook pages that the Speaker of the Assembly, Alen Simonian, has ordered the collection of journalists' chairs.

The journalists write, "Reporters have also been deprived of the right to sit. By Simonian's order, the chairs intended for reporters in the National Assembly were removed", "In the National Assembly, we have reached the absurd situation where Speaker Alen Simonian saw operators sitting on chairs while passing through the corridor, turned back, took a photo, and left."

ArmDaily.am has contacted Alen Simonian's spokesperson, Tsovinar Khachatryan, to clarify why the journalists' chairs were collected. "The operators were sitting in a manner that was neither courteous nor practical. For that reason, the chairs were collected. The operators met with Alen Simonian shortly before and apologized for their improper sitting behavior. There is a session ongoing at the moment, so I cannot say anything about the fate of the chairs," Khachatryan told ArmDaily.am.
