Why Russians Are Coming to Armenia for Vaccinations

Russians have started to more frequently book tours to Armenia to get vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine approved by the WHO. This was reported to the RIA Novosti agency by Mekhak Apresyan, the president of the Armenian Tourism Federation.

Citizens of the Russian Federation can enter certain European countries, such as Finland, France, and Spain, only with a vaccination certificate for foreign vaccines. However, according to Apresyan, they are coming for more than just vaccinations.

“Russians are interested in Armenia, and it’s great that there is an additional incentive, as the possibility of vaccination is taken into account when choosing a destination. These two factors play a positive role in the decision to visit the republic,” he said.

This practice is beneficial not only from an economic perspective. “This is a humanitarian step; tourists leave Armenia with satisfaction since they can get vaccinated on an equal basis with the country’s citizens without discrimination. All of this positively affects tourism,” Apresyan noted.

The Armenian Ministry of Health informed RIA Novosti that Russians can be vaccinated for free, including with the Moderna vaccine. To do so, citizens of the Russian Federation are simply required to present a passport.
