Video: Protests in Baku - How Police Act
The police in Baku used force against protesters supporting political prisoner Saleh Rustamli and violently dispersed the demonstration.
It is noteworthy that Saleh Rustamli, a prominent member of Azerbaijan's opposition "Popular Front" party, continues to threaten a hunger strike and has also refused to consume liquids while demanding his release from prison. According to reports, doctors have indicated that if he continues this way, it could pose a serious and direct threat to his health.
Rustamli was sentenced in February 2019 to seven years in prison on charges of money laundering. His lawyer, Bahruz Bayramov, told OC Media that as of November 29, on the 24th day of his hunger strike, Rustamli's health condition has begun to deteriorate sharply.
