Rasborka, Hand-to-Hand Combat and Quarrel: Extraordinary Incident at the PPA

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: An extraordinary incident occurred at the PPA in August. One of the commission's employees recounted that during a meeting chaired by Gegham Gevorgyan, a dispute arose between the head of the methodology and market supervision department, Davit Eloyan, and Arsen Petrosyan, an employee of the competition department, which escalated into a physical fight. Eloyan, undeterred by the presence of the commission chairman, ran to his office to retrieve a knife with the intent to attack Arsen. He then called Petrosyan into the corridor for a 'rasborka' (a brawl). Terrified employees fled to their offices. The meeting was interrupted, and security personnel intervened. Business operators present at the meeting left the building in shock, with one remarking to Gegham, 'You can't even control your staff; you called us here to ask questions?'

We attempted to confirm this information with the PPA spokesperson Ani Smbatyan, who stated, 'I inform you that no such incident was reported during the PPA meeting. The individuals mentioned by you have not been PPA employees since August.' When asked when and why they were dismissed, she replied, 'Arsen Petrosyan was dismissed on August 2, and Davit Eloyan on August 10. They were released according to their own requests.' The two participants in the incident were dismissed almost simultaneously. Eloyan was a new hire accepted by Gevorgyan, while Arsen Petrosyan was among the more experienced employees at the PPA with ten years of work experience. In a conversation with us, Arsen Petrosyan said, 'I had already intended to leave for a year ... it could not have been due to this incident. My reasons were different, and whether it coincided with Eloyan's departure is not important.'
