New Details on Gunfire Incident in Yerevan: 12 Bullet Marks Found on Maybach

According to Shamshyan.com, a criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Yerevan branch under Article 258, Part 4 and Article 35, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

The mentioned case was launched on December 11, following a hooligan act involving the use of a firearm in Yerevan.

As reported by G. Shamshyan, a joint operation carried out by investigators from the Yerevan city police’s criminal investigation department and the Arabkir division revealed that on the same day, around 4:15 PM, a 22-year-old Yerevan resident, Gagik Smbatyan, and his 26-year-old brother, Aram Smbatyan, had an argument with two Yerevan residents, Gevorg Sukiasyan, 38, and Levonik Sargsyan, 42. The dispute concluded without incident, but later, Sukiasyan fired shots toward a Maybach vehicle owned by Gagik Smbatyan’s father, Arayik Smbatyan, using an illegally held submachine gun.

Afterward, near a store located at 47/2 V. Davtyan Street, Sukiasyan fired again into the air with the submachine gun and fled the scene in a BMW vehicle.

According to Shamshyan, due to operational measures taken the same day, Gagik and Aram Smbatyan were located and summoned to the Arabkir police department. The police and investigating department are making necessary efforts to locate Gevorg Sukiasyan, Levonik Sargsyan, and the firearm used in the crime.

Sources inform that the dispute was over a car washing issue, and a camera recorded the moment at the shooting scene. Police and investigators have also identified the license plate number of the BMW vehicle used by Sukiasyan during his escape. A total of 12 bullet marks were found on the vehicle as a result of the shooting.

As previously reported by a photojournalist from the scene, gunfire was heard in Yerevan on December 11. Around 2:30 PM, the Arabkir police received a report regarding gunshots near a high-rise building on Arabkir Street 39.
