WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Suffers Stroke
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has suffered a stroke while imprisoned at the Belmarsh prison in London, where he has been held since 2019. This information was reported by the Daily Mail, citing Assange's fiancée, Stella Morris.
According to Morris, Assange experienced the stroke on October 27 while appearing via video link at London’s Supreme Court. She believes the stroke was related to stress resulting from the successive court hearings he has undergone.
The incident has affected the health of the 50-year-old Assange, who is now exhibiting memory-related issues and signs of neurological impairment.
It is worth noting that just days ago, the England Court of Appeal had granted permission for Assange’s extradition to the United States, where he faces charges for revealing classified information in one of the largest such cases in the country’s history.
Julian Assange gained notoriety for publishing information about U.S. military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. He reported on the killing of civilians during military operations and the conditions at the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay. The charges against him could result in a total of up to 175 years in prison.
