Prisoner Infected with Coronavirus Dies Today

Today, a prisoner from the "Prison Hospital" correctional facility, born in 1967, A.H., was pronounced dead at the "Saint Gregory the Illuminator" civilian hospital. This was reported by the Armenian Penitentiary Service.

The prisoner was diagnosed with COVID-19 on November 11 of this year and was transferred to the "Saint Gregory the Illuminator" civilian hospital on the same day. Materials are being prepared to investigate the circumstances of the death, and a forensic medical examination has been appointed.

The statement from the penitentiary service also noted, "From January 1, 2021, to December 10, 2021, a total of 141 prisoners and detainees have been examined and treated in the infectious department of the 'Prison Hospital' subdivision of the Penitentiary Medical Center. As of December 10, 2021, 42 individuals were still undergoing treatment."
