Personnel Reshuffle in Government: Pashinyan Has Not Forgiven Karen Sarukhanyan
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "Yesterday, Romanos Petrosyan was dismissed from his position as Minister of Environment. We have received information that Hakob Simidyan, who was previously removed from the position of advisor to the Prime Minister, will be appointed to this post. Romanos Petrosyan was appointed as the head of the State Oversight Service. The head of the State Oversight Service, Tigran Ulikhanjan, was also dismissed from his position. There had been frequent reports about his dismissal recently.
Although the external reason for Romanos Petrosyan's dismissal is the local self-government elections, especially the loss in Kotayk province, specifically in Abovyan, it seems that he is being punished by being demoted from a government member to the head of a body subordinate to the government. However, the State Oversight Service is an important body with broad powers, and thus this is not necessarily a demotion.
Incidentally, Karen Sarukhanyan, the former governor of Shirak province and former MP, was also dismissed from the position of Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, and according to some reports, Pashinyan has not forgiven him for not ensuring the victory of the Civil Contract Party in his native region of Amasia."
