Instagram May Restrict Social Media Use for Children Under 13

Instagram, the social media platform, may limit the use of its service for children under 13 years old. This was announced by the company's head, Adam Mosseri, during a session in the U.S. Congress.

“We are creating a number of options to check if the user is indeed old enough to use Instagram. We are developing new technology to search for and delete accounts belonging to users under 13,” said the company’s leader.

Thanks to new algorithms, adults will not be able to message minors unless they are subscribed. Additionally, adults will not be able to tag teenagers under 18 without the consent of the underage user's subscription. Furthermore, Instagram will launch the first package of parental and guardian controls in March. The new parental control tool will allow adults to monitor how much time teenagers spend on the social media platform and set time limits.
