Death Toll This Year Sees Dramatic Increase: 'Zhoghovurd'

‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: ‘In Armenia, from January to October this year, 27,136 people have died. According to the statistics committee, the number of deaths from January to October last year was 25,520, while in 2019, 21,603 people died, indicating an increase of 1,616 in the number of deaths this year.

Official data indicates that 3,755 people have died from Covid-19 this year from January to October, whereas during the same period last year, 1,431 deaths were recorded. In our country, 794 people died from Covid-19 in October, 427 in September, and 203 in August. Only 227 of these cases are related to military actions during the 44-day war in 2020, with civil status registrations conducted from April to October of this year.

In addition, ‘Zhoghovurd’ learned that the number of births in Armenia has increased. In the first 10 months of this year, there were 30,282 births, compared to 30,147 in the same period last year and 29,910 in 2019, showing an increase of 135 births compared to the same period last year.
