Verbal Assaults and Physical Attacks on Head of Enforcement Service Department, Suspects Flee
As a result of investigative and procedural actions carried out by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Armavir region, the circumstances of a hooliganism incident involving a 50-year-old resident of Ejmiadzin and his son have been established.
According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, on July 28, 2021, at around 14:30, a 50-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, went to the Ejmiadzin division of the Enforcement Service of Aragatsotn and Armavir regions to obtain information regarding the cases initiated against him. The enforcement officers directed him to the rapid service room for more timely information.
However, the man, carried away by a desire to emphasize his superiority, began to shout insults at the enforcement officers, after which they escorted him out of the department.
Two days later, on July 30, 2021, around 15:00, the 50-year-old man, along with his son, brother, and son-in-law, entered the aforementioned division of the Enforcement Service, where the father and son openly displayed disrespect towards the public by shouting insults and physically attacking the head of the department in various parts of his body. Realizing that the department staff had called the police, they fled the scene.
Based on the sufficient accumulation of evidence, charges have been brought against the 50-year-old man and his son under the first part of Article 258, part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. A signature not to leave has been chosen as a measure of restraint against them.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the prosecutor conducting the proceedings with a motion to confirm the indictment and send it to court.
