Turkey Engages in 'Provocative Rhetoric' Distorting History and Geography, Says Greek Prime Minister

Turkey not only engages in 'provocative rhetoric' but also carries out aggressive actions that violate international law and undermine stability in the Mediterranean region. This was stated by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to TASS.

'We also discussed regional developments, what is happening in the Eastern Mediterranean,' said Mitsotakis, 'I have been very frank with my interlocutor, telling him that, unfortunately, Turkey is not only engaging in provocative rhetoric, distorting history and geography, but also carrying out aggressive actions that violate international law and often put stability in the region at risk...'

According to the Greek Prime Minister, the country is always open to dialogue within the framework of 'international legality and, of course, maritime law, which Russia has always supported and continues to support as a basis, an essential platform for settling interstate disputes.'

Regarding the Cyprus issue, Mitsotakis expressed gratitude for Russia's consistent and constructive stance. 'This is a priority issue for Greece. I reaffirmed our commitment to the objectives of a viable solution within the framework of the UN Security Council resolutions,' he stated, adding that the logic underlying this solution is that of a bi-communal, bi-zonal federation with one legal subjectivity and citizenship.

'Any discussion of a solution based on the creation of two states on the island must be fundamentally rejected,' he said.
