The Executioner Could Not Save Romanos: "Hraparak"
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan, who is also the de facto governor of Kotayk, asked Arthur Harutyunyan, known as the Executioner, to return to Armenia to support the elections ahead of the elections in Abovyan in exchange for certain agreements. The Executioner, as a reminder, is one of the bitter opponents of Gagik Tsarukyan and left Armenia after a public confrontation with him. Before the revolution, he had no hopes of returning, but after the revolution, he established relations with the current authorities and visited Armenia several times temporarily, supporting previous elections.
He had hoped that the ruling Civil Contract Party (CP) would nominate him as a candidate for the mayor of Abovyan, and he even had discussions with Romanos Petrosyan. However, the CP nominated Pashinyan’s candidate, Pavel Tsugunyan, instead. Despite feeling slighted by Romanos, the Executioner reportedly returned to Armenia for the elections. After the preliminary results were known, when Romanos Petrosyan tried to find someone to blame in the CP headquarters, the Executioner directly told him that he was the number one culprit and there was no need to look elsewhere.
Incidentally, due to Romanos's request for a recount, the members of the Prosperous Armenia Party believe their votes will increase, as most of the commissions were led by the CP members, and the ballots in favor of the Prosperous Armenia Party were made "invalid" instead of the opposite.
