Azerbaijani Ruler Talks Again About the So-Called 'Zangezur Corridor': Vardan Voskanyan

Iranian expert Vardan Voskanyan wrote on his Facebook page: "Today, the Azerbaijani ruler spoke again about the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor', but he did so in a place that is itself problematic in terms of ethnic composition, namely the village of Gonakhkend in the Quba region, which is exclusively inhabited by Caucasian Persians (Tati)."

According to recent publications by Azerbaijani Telegram channels, since 2014, there have been arrests and other repressive actions against Caucasian Persians living in Azerbaijan on ethnic grounds, under the pretext of raising an armed rebellion to join the 'Front for the Liberation of Shirvan' and establish the Shirvan Persian Republic.

In order to suppress various discontent among his own population, including on ethnic grounds, the Azerbaijani ruler has repeatedly stated that all problems of the artificial formation called Azerbaijan are allegedly due to the unresolved conflict in Artsakh. Now, insisting with the same frequency that this conflict no longer exists, he has found himself in a trap of his own making and is trying to escape from it by babbling about some 'Zangezur Corridor' among the Caucasian Persians, whereas these people just need to have their minimal ethnic rights ensured, rather than an actual pan-Turkic corridor that would lead to the final assimilation of this ancient Iranian people."
