VIDEO. 15 Dead and 27 Missing Due to Volcano Eruption in Indonesia

The death toll from the eruption of Mount Semeru on Java Island, Indonesia has reached 15. This information was announced in a press release published on December 6 by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency.

According to the agency, 27 people are still unaccounted for. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the East Java province.

Earlier, emergency services had reported 14 deaths and 56 injuries from the volcanic eruption.

Mount Semeru is the highest peak on Java Island and one of 130 active volcanoes present in Indonesia.
