Statement of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation on the Results of the Local Self-Government Elections

On December 5, 2021, the local self-government proportional elections held in 36 consolidated communities of Armenia provided yet another opportunity to resist the devastating ruling powers. In terms of recorded successes, the ARF is the leading force in the opposition sector. This is stated in the announcement of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, which we present below.

“The party, both separately and as part of coalitions, has achieved success in 18 communities and will form a local government in the Akhuryan community of Shirak Province in a coalition format. Cooperation is also planned to be expanded with other opposition and healthy forces in other communities.

The organized elections took place under tense, non-competitive conditions, utilizing state and local government leverage and resources, amid various violations and pressures. It is evident that the ‘Civil Contract’ party, driven by an obsession with preserving and centralizing power, seeks to localize its dangerous political agenda within communities as well. However, the active resistance of citizens and the forces leading them has proven that the government, which has led the country to war, losses, and disaster, is rejected by a significant portion of the public.

We express our gratitude to our compatriots and partners for the votes cast and the support provided. Our struggle against the anti-national government continues; with a more consolidated effort, new opportunities will open for our homeland and its children.”
