George Clooney Rejects Million-Dollar Airline Deal for Principles
Hollywood actor George Clooney has turned down a major advertising contract with an airline, as reported by The Guardian, detailing that he would have received $35 million for just one day of filming.
According to Clooney, after discussing the offer with his wife, Amal Clooney, he decided to walk away from the deal. The actor noted that the airline involved was linked to a country that, while an ally, sometimes raises doubts.
"I thought if it’s going to take away even one minute from my sleep, it’s not worth it," Clooney explained.
The decision of the famous actor was also commented on by Tigran Mkrtchyan, Armenia’s ambassador to Greece, who wrote on his Twitter page: "George and Amal Clooney are strong advocates for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. We can guess which airline made such an offer, but the answer is worth everything. 'If it’s going to take away even one minute from my sleep, it’s not worth it.' Beliefs and principles are not for sale."
Following this interview, various media outlets began to speculate which airline was being referred to. According to the media, the potential candidates include:
- El-Al
- Emirates
- Etihad
- Qatar
- Saudia
- Turkish
