Residents of Tsovagyugh and Seymnovka Boycott Elections
Residents of the villages of Tsovagyugh and Seymnovka in the Gegharkunik region have boycotted the local self-government elections. No voters participated in the elections in these two communities, reports News.am.
According to data provided by the Central Election Commission (CEC), as of 5:00 PM, voter participation in these two locations was zero. The reason for the boycott is the amalgamation of the communities; residents are against the merging, which was announced during parliamentary hearings on the topic earlier.
It is noteworthy that as part of the amalgamation process, Tsovagyugh and Seymnivka are set to be included in the enlarged community of Sevan. A total of 2,927 citizens in Tsovagyugh have the right to vote, while only 195 do in Seymnovka.
In the enlarged community of Sevan, three political forces are participating in the council elections: the Civil Contract party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, and the 'Sargis Muradyan' alliance.
