Defense Minister and U.S. Ambassador Meet

On December 2, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy.

Ambassador Tracy congratulated Suren Papikyan on his appointment as defense minister and wished him success in his future endeavors.

During the meeting, issues related to the border situation and security matters were discussed. The Defense Minister presented the current situation in the border area and the Armenian side's approaches to resolving issues.

The ambassador noted that the U.S. is supportive of de-escalation of tensions and the peaceful resolution of issues, emphasizing the important role of the U.S. within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and underscoring the need for the continuity of processes in this format.

The interlocutors also discussed various issues concerning Armenian-American cooperation in the defense sector.
