New Travel Restrictions to be Implemented: National Center for Disease Control and Prevention Details

The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention announces new travel restrictions related to COVID-19. According to the changes made to the Decision No. 1514-N of the Government of the Republic of Armenia dated September 11, 2020:

  • When entering the territory of the Republic of Armenia, it is required to present:
    • A negative result of the COVID-19 PCR test valid for a maximum of 72 hours,
    • Or a vaccination certificate proving full vaccination against COVID-19 in accordance with the dosage specified in the vaccine instructions:
      • For a one-dose vaccine, the certificate must prove that the vaccination was administered at least 28 days (4 weeks) prior to the date of entry.
      • For multi-dose vaccines, the certificate must prove that the last dose was given at least 14 days prior to the date of entry.
  • No negative test or vaccination certificate is required for children under 6 years old, 11 months, and 29 days old.
  • Individuals arriving from the territory of the Russian Federation must present their certificates via the mobile application "Traveling without COVID-19".
  • Entry into Armenia for foreigners remains open by both air and land routes, but exclusively upon presentation of a negative PCR test result valid for a maximum of 72 hours or a vaccination certificate. Entry is prohibited for individuals who do not present one of these certificates.
  • Citizens of the Republic of Armenia, foreigners with temporary or permanent residence status in the Republic of Armenia, stateless persons permanently residing in Armenia, and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in Armenia are subject to sampling at the airport or land border points, and mandatory self-isolation until a negative PCR test result is obtained if they do not present a certificate.
  • The cost of the PCR test is borne by the citizen.
  • A quarantine related to COVID-19 was established on June 20, 2022, in the Republic of Armenia. The vaccination certificate can also be presented via a mobile application or a printed version derived from the application, protected by a QR code, which allows verification of all requirements for the vaccination certificate.
  • Based on the test results, hospitalization may be applied if relevant symptoms are present. In cases of failing to present a negative test or vaccination certificate and refusing sampling or testing, isolation for 14 calendar days will be implemented.

* The certificate must be in Armenian, Russian, or English, containing the contact details and name of the medical institution that conducted the test/vaccination, along with the details:

  • Name and surname of the tested/vaccinated person, number of the identity document, social security card number, or individual number of state health insurance, or the unique identification number of the certificate.
  • For certificates from EU member states, it must also include the date of birth (day, month, year), test result, manufacturer's name of the vaccine, serial number, and the dates of administration for the first and second doses.
