Levon Aronian Will Now Compete Under the American Flag

The Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian will compete under the US flag starting December 1, as reported by Sputnik.

According to FIDE's website, the details of the Armenian chess player have been updated; he is now representing the US Chess Federation.

Levon Aronian is ranked 8th in the FIDE classification list with a score of 2771.

It is noteworthy that Levon Aronian, a leading player of the Armenian national team and a three-time Olympic champion with the team, stated back in March that he had decided to move to the US. He mentioned that his decision was influenced by the government's zero support. The grandmaster believes that leaving will allow him to realize his chess potential.
