Armenia Supports Normalization of Relations with Turkey Without Preconditions: Konyoyan

On December 1, during the 143rd four-day assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Madrid, the Armenian National Assembly delegation met with representatives of the Armenian community in Spain.

According to the press service of the National Assembly, in a warm atmosphere, the head of the ruling 'Civil Contract' faction, Haik Konyoyan, along with faction members Hasmik Hakobyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan, addressed the concerns of the community representatives. These concerns primarily related to the resolution of the Artsakh conflict and the details of the recent meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the joint statement adopted as a result of the meeting.

Konyoyan emphasized that Armenia is in favor of resolving regional issues peacefully and through negotiations. He reaffirmed that the unblocking of economic and transport links in the region is crucial for the country. He added that Armenia supports the normalization of relations with Turkey without preconditions.

During the meeting, the Armenian community in Spain raised questions related to the regulation of diaspora activities. In this context, the parliamentarians informed them that according to a law adopted a few days ago in the National Assembly of Armenia, commissioners for diaspora affairs will be appointed in communities on a public basis with a consultative status.

It is worth noting that the representatives of the Armenian community in Spain included businessmen, doctors, and cultural and artistic figures who provided significant support to the Armenian people during the 44-day war.
