Former Head of Vladimir Gasparyan's Security, 'Vova's Arshak', Arrested

The General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Armen Shiroyan, on November 30, has approved the anti-corruption committee's investigator's request to arrest Arshak Hakobyan, formerly the head of the security detail for former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan, known as 'Vova's Arshak'. This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by the Anti-Corruption Committee.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Committee reported that Arshak Hakobyan, as of July 1, 2017, occupying the position of head of the relevant division of the police and being a declarant official, intentionally concealed reportable data in the declarations submitted to the Ethics Commission for High-Ranking Officials. This resulted in the failure to declare property of particularly large value and also legalized property obtained through criminal means amounting to 22,007,259 AMD.

Hakobyan's lawyer, Tigran Atanesyan, described the charges as illegal and a disgraceful prosecution.
