The son of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, Levon Kocharyan, visited Goris to attend the court hearing for Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan.

“We have come to support him so that he does not feel alone and knows that his friends are with him,” said Levon Kocharyan in a conversation with reporters.

He stated that the authorities have a personal vendetta against Arush Arushanyan, Mkhitar Zakaryan, and Manvel Paramazyan. “This is the revenge of a petty and spiteful man. This government, along with its leadership, has some obsession with keeping opposition figures incarcerated for one more day. It seems to be their life’s purpose,” Kocharyan emphasized.

Levon Kocharyan noted that isolating the mayors from Syunik specifically raises safety concerns in the region. “But one must be naive to think that by imprisoning Arush or the other guys, they can intimidate them,” he added.
