Only 9 Vaccinated Citizens in Severe Condition, Minister Clarifies

We have a good picture in terms of hospitalization and illness among vaccinated citizens. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a press conference.

The minister noted that currently, among the 13,562 active cases of coronavirus, only 1,092 citizens are vaccinated, which accounts for 8.1 percent of the active cases. “Out of the 2,900 hospitalized citizens at this moment, only 102 are vaccinated, making up 3.5 percent. Among those in severe condition, only 9 are vaccinated,” the minister highlighted.

Anahit Avanesyan pointed out that concerns about how new variants might affect the effectiveness of vaccinations still persist. However, she reminded that there were similar worries at the initial stage of the Delta variant's spread. “Nevertheless, vaccinations provide a sufficient threshold of protection against severe, extremely severe disease, and death. We all hope that the effectiveness of vaccinations will also be maintained regarding this new variant,” said Anahit Avanesyan.
