Justice Will Prevail Soon: Lawyer of Arush Arushanyan

The lawyer of Arush Arushanyan, the head of the consolidated community of Goris in the Syunik Province of Armenia, is hopeful that justice will prevail sooner or later, as his client has committed no crime. He made this statement in a conversation with journalists.

It should be noted that the next court session on the case of Arush Arushanyan and others is taking place at the Goris seat of the general jurisdiction court.

"The court must analyze all circumstances. It heard the positions of all parties. Arushanyan is innocent and has committed no kind of crime, and everyone will soon be convinced of it. What is happening during the trial, what artificial circumstances are occurring, is purely due to the fact that this case is out of the ordinary. This is political persecution, and one should not seek legal grounds here," said Alexandanyan, adding that the judge is professional and there is hope that justice will prevail.

He emphasized that the defense must wait for the testimonies of the defendants, after which they will exercise their right to ask questions. The defense hinted that changes might occur after the testimonies of the defendants.

It is reminded that Arush Arushanyan has been charged under Article 154.2, Part 4, Clause 2 (obstruction of the free exercise of the voter's will), Article 149, Part 2, Clause 4 (using his official position to interfere with electoral rights), and Article 154.2, Part 3 (violation of voting secrecy) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

Another criminal case has been joined to this case, in which a bail of 2 million drams has been applied as a preventive measure against Arushanyan. Arush Arushanyan has been in custody since July 16, 2021.
