Japan Closes Borders to Foreign Nationals Due to New Coronavirus Variant

Japan will close its borders to foreign nationals starting November 30 due to the spread of a new variant of the coronavirus. This was reported by РИА Новости.

Specifically, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced to reporters that, starting from November 30, previously established exceptions for foreign business travelers, students, and specialists that were introduced on November 8 will be canceled.

“From November 30, a ban on entry for foreigners from all countries will be imposed,” Kishida stated. The restriction is being introduced as an emergency measure until complete information about the new variant can be clarified.
