Court Hearing on Arush Arushanyan and Others Postponed
The court hearing regarding Goris community leader Arush Arushanyan and others has been postponed at the Goris residence of the Syunik region's Court of General Jurisdiction due to the end of the working day. The session will continue on December 27.
The case is already in the trial phase. During today’s court session, the court examined existing evidence, deciding that the defendants will be questioned first, followed by witness testimonies, and then an examination of the documents presented in the case.
Lusine Avetyan, the head of the K'arahunj community, has recanted her accusatory testimony against Arush Arushanyan, stating that she provided false testimony.
Goris community leader Arush Arushanyan is currently in custody, accused of preparing a serious crime with intent to ensure the maximum number of votes from community voters and achieve a desired outcome during the parliamentary snap elections, in which he participated on the electoral list of the “Armenia” alliance. He is charged under Article 35-154.2, part 4, item 2, Article 38-149, part 2, item 4, and Article 38-154.2, part 3 of the RA Criminal Code for allegedly offering bribes to two or more voters for participating in elections and voting for the “Armenia” alliance during the pre-election campaign.
Moreover, according to the charges, Arush Arushanyan organized the coercion of voters from the K'arahunj community through the administrative head Lusine Avetyan to participate in the parliamentary snap elections scheduled for June 20, 2021, and to vote in favor of the “Armenia” alliance. Arushanyan does not accept the charges brought against him.
