5165 Movement Presents Its Upcoming Steps
The 5165 movement, which announced yesterday its decision to withdraw from the Liberation Initiative and to refrain from street protests at this stage, has outlined its forthcoming actions on its Facebook page and discussed the reasons for stepping back from street fighting.
“After several days of rallies, the 5165 movement has realized that unity is indispensable to prevent the downfall of the Armenian statehood. The decision to shift the 5165 movement’s street protests to the arena of political consultations and to resume them with greater momentum later is based on the understanding that a broader coalition is needed to achieve the removal of the current authorities. At this point, by stepping back from street protests, we are not fracturing the movement, and while remaining committed to our principle of unity, we see no obstacle to taking collective actions with members of the Liberation Movement in the future as necessary.
We are confident that the success of this multi-party process is the only path out of this situation. The 5165 Movement will engage in the following actions shortly:
- We will initiate meetings and consultations with all political forces in Armenia, as well as with all civil society organizations and public figures known to share our concerns and agree with this need, regardless of political views or perceptions and biases against each other.
- We will also hold meetings with community organizations and the public in the regions. The agenda of this process is the resignation of the government and the formation of national unity,” the statement reads.
