Video: 27-Year-Old Strikes Police Vehicle with Car, Investigators Say
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported details of crimes committed by a 27-year-old resident of Yerevan, following extensive investigative and procedural actions in a criminal case led by its main investigation department.
According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, the young man, prohibited from driving due to legal restrictions, drove an unregistered Mercedes vehicle on May 24, 2021, leading to his vehicle being stopped by police and the corresponding report being filed.
Additionally, on July 29, 2021, around 11:00 PM, police officers, acting on operational intelligence, approached the Mercedes-Benz vehicle operated by the 27-year-old, parked near a gas station on Hrachya Kochar Street in Yerevan. They identified themselves according to the law and asked him to exit the vehicle. However, the young man ignored the legal demand made by the officers and deliberately struck the police vehicle with his car, threatening them with violence and driving towards the officers standing on the road, thereby posing a real danger to their health.
As a result of urgent measures, the young man was detained, and during a personal search, a factory-made cold weapon, specifically a hunting knife, was found in his possession. Based on sufficient evidence, charges were brought against the 27-year-old under Article 243.1, Section 1.1, Article 185, Section 2, Point 3, Article 316, Section 1, and Article 235, Section 4 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been placed in custody as a measure of restraint.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
