The Days of Military Chief Artak Davtyan Are Numbered: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports that according to sources, the days of Military Chief Artak Davtyan's tenure are numbered, and he is expected to be dismissed soon. Names of potential replacements are already circulating, including some unlikely candidates. There is even talk of a general who, despite being a fierce critic of the authorities, has recently expressed positive remarks about Suren Papikyan's appointment.
Such metamorphoses are common in Armenia. According to our sources, Davtyan's change is linked to a well-known criminal case regarding arms, which has seen former Minister Davit Tonoyan and the director of one of the defense supply companies, Davit Galstyan (also known as Patron Davit), detained for several months. Charges have also been filed against Davtyan.
