Validity of Recovery Certificates for Russians Recovered from Covid-19 to Be Extended to 1 Year

Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported the proposal to extend the validity of recovery certificates for Russians who have overcome the coronavirus from six months to one year. He made this statement during a meeting with government officials, according to forbes.ru.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova put forward the suggestion to extend the validity of these certificates. She stated that the authorities have arrived at this decision after discussions with "our scientists and experts in the field of immunization, considering the results of both domestic and international studies."

Golikova noted, "Currently, the share of reinfections among the total number of infections in Russia is only 0.74." Putin responded to Golikova, saying, "So that’s how we will proceed."

The Russian President reminded that the World Health Organization recommends re-vaccination six months after recovery; however, each country can make its own decision based on the circumstances. Golikova confirmed that the recommended interval between vaccinations is six months, while the optimal period for Russians who have recovered from Covid-19 is one year.
