Pashinyan's Advisor's Mother-in-Law as Rival to the CP - 'Hayastani Hraparak'
According to the 'Hayastani Hraparak' newspaper, on December 5, there will be council elections in the consolidated community of Nairi in Kotayk Province. The center of the consolidated community is the city of Yeghvard, which united the villages of Aragyugh, Bujakan, Zovuni, Zoravan, and Saralanj back in 2017. Now, the large rural communities of Proshyan and Kasakh will also merge into Yeghvard.
A noteworthy struggle is underway in Nairi. Six parties are competing: the CP, 'Living Land', 'My Strong Community', the ARF, Aram Zavenich's 'Republic', and Lyudmila Sargsyan's Reformed Social-Democratic Hunchakian Party.
The candidate from the CP is Vagarshak Amirakhanyan, who has held the position of deputy head of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body since May 2021. The second on the list is the administrative head of Zovuni, and the eighth is the current mayor of Proshyan. The list also includes employees of the Yeghvard Town Hall, individual entrepreneurs, teachers, and doctors. Meanwhile, Yeghvard’s mayor, Norair Sargsyan, has been nominated by the party list of Hakob Simidian's mother-in-law, L. Sargsyan. He was formerly with the HHK, but is currently non-partisan and has been the mayor of Yeghvard since 1999.
It is noteworthy that the 'Reformed Hunchakian' party is only participating in local self-government elections in Yeghvard.
