Modern X-ray Device Donated to Armenia's Largest COVID Clinic

The European Union and the World Health Organization have provided a modern X-ray device for the radiology room of the Medical Center of St. Grigor Lusavorich, as part of a broader package of assistance aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health. Today, the head of the EU delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Viktorin, Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, and special representative of the WHO in Armenia Oleg Storozenko visited the Medical Center of St. Grigor Lusavorich to hand over the X-ray device.

“We hope that the new equipment will help Armenia enhance its fight against the pandemic by facilitating the continuous monitoring of patient treatment and improving clinical diagnostics. The EU stands beside Armenia and the Armenian people in the joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. I am pleased to visit the medical center today, marking the 4th anniversary of the signing of the agreement with the Health Ministry,” noted Ambassador Andrea Viktorin.

The Medical Center of St. Grigor Lusavorich has been repurposed as a COVID clinic from the very beginning of the pandemic, dedicating all its technical and professional capacity to the fight against COVID-19. As you know, this is our largest COVID clinic in terms of bed capacity. This equipment, made possible through the support of our partners, will allow for quick and high-quality examinations necessary for the treatment of COVID patients,” stated Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan.

“The World Health Organization and the European Union continue to support Armenia in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and stand beside healthcare workers. This X-ray device, which enables better quality imaging and monitoring of disease progression, is crucial in the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients,” added Oleg Storozenko, special representative of the WHO in Armenia.

It is worth noting that as part of the program, hospitals treating COVID-19 patients have received personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves, as well as necessary medical devices for treatment, including electrocardiogram devices, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and patient monitors.
